Step 1
Lay out a gum blanket to protect your flags from getting dirty.
Lay down your rolled-up flags, the torch case and torches as shown.
|
 |
This is a good close-up of the
action-torch and worm.
|
 |
This is a good close-up of the
foot-torch. |
 |
Step 2
Begin by placing the action torch into its section of the torch
case. |
 |
Step 3
Once the action-torch has been placed in its section, insert the
worm right along side.
|
 |
Step 4
Slide in the foot-torch into its section of the torch case. |
 |
Step 3
Tie the openings of each sections as illustrated. |
 |
Step 4
Roll up the torch case and finish tying. |
 |
This is a shot showing the
rolled-up flags, torches in their cases, as the flag bag. |
 |
Step 5
begin by inserting the torch case into the flag bag, foot-torch side
first. This begins a two-man operation. |
 |
Step 6
Leave about 10" of the torch case exposed. Then, insert
the flags. |
 |
Step 7
Push & turn the flags into the bag. Be careful not to snag
the flags on anything. |
 |
Step 8
Insert the flag bundle until the poles are even with the top of the
torch case. This has shown to make it easier to fit both by
sliding them in together. Gently work them in together (as
one). This takes some work by both men. If done properly,
both should slide to the bottom with ease.

 |
Close up of above. |
 |
Step 9
Tie the open end of the bag well. |
 |
Step 10
Next, secure the carrying strap. Strap the widest end at the
top, and bottom. This will keep the torches from moving around too
much inside the bag. |
 |
Fastening the bottom strap. |
 |
Step 11
We had to use a handsome model for this shot. A private may be
the most suitable man to carry the equipment. Notice the
turpentine canteen, equipment bag, and flag bag. This equipment is
carried in addition to the soldier's standard accoutrement of water
canteen, haversack, etc. |
