How to Print the Myer's Signal
Manual
|
The booklet should be a handy little item you can stick in a haversack. Follow the instructions below for printing.
For the booklet format the number of pages has to be a multiple of 4. That's why there are blank
pages at the end. The pages are printed 2 at a time. (There are two pages
of text on one page that you print.) The fronts are all printed and then re-fed through the printer to print all
the backs.
For the 36 "pages" of this document you print on 9 sheets of paper. The order for the "fronts" is:
First Page - has pages 36, 1
Second Page - 34,3
Third Page - 32,5
Fourth Page - 30,7
Fifth Page - 28,9
Sixth Page - 26,11
Seventh Page - 24,13
Eighth Page - 22,15
Ninth Page - 20,17
For the "backs" the order is:
First Page (back) - has pages 2,35
Second Page (back) - 4,33
Third Page (back) - 6,31
Fourth Page (back) - 8,29
Fifth Page (back) - 10,27
Sixth Page (back) - 12,25
Seventh Page (back) - 14,23
Eighth Page (back) - 16,21
Ninth Page (back) - 18,19
Make sure you feed the sheets back through in the same order. If you let them collect in the tray they may need to be put
back in order before printing the backs. One easy way is to print a sheet at a time. 36,1 goes with 2,35 etc.,
etc.
Print the cover sheet/title page seperately. You can print one on light blue card stock for a cover and one on plain paper for a title or fly leaf.
The large print booklet will print on 8.5" x 11". To print the large print booklet, print out all the odd pages starting at page one, then print out all the even pages starting with the first page of all the odd pages you printed. The easy way to do that is to print page one, then turn your page over manually re-feed the sheet into your printer and print page two on the back of page one, etc. until you've printed the entire large print booklet. You can then staple the left hand side or use a 3-ring hole punch so you can put it into a 3-ring binder.
Stapling may be a problem for those of you without proper equipment. If you want to staple either version, you may be able to get it stapled at a one-stop copy shoppe like Kinkos or some MailBoxes Etc.
